MEN’S SOCCER SHUTS OUT MOUNT SAINT VINCENT, 3-0

(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team picked up their second straight Skyline Conference victory Saturday in a 3-0 win over the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins, at Thibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers, New York.  The win improves Old Westbury (6-10-1) to 5-3-1 in conference play while sending Mount Saint Vincent (1-10) to 1-8.

Old Westbury broke the scoring ice in the 24th minute as Michael Bayne took a cross from Babajide Anjuwon to score his first career goal, making the score 1-0.  Old Westbury would score their second goal 12:02 after their first.  Panther Tana Weekes beat the Mount Saint Vincent defense as German Parodis registered his third assist of the season.  Old Westbury outshot Mount Saint Vincent in the first half, 12-4, as the Dolphins could not manage to get the ball in the back of the net and went into halftime down by two goals.   

OW would keep the pressure on and get another goal in the 65th minute.  Tana Weekes registered his first career multi-goal game with his fifth goal of the season, assisted by George Villalta (1st of season).  The 3-0 score held to the 90th minute and the Panthers grabbed their fifth conference win of the season.    

Pablo Diaz earned his second straight shutout (fifth of the season), making three saves on the day for Old Westbury. Matt Calandrillo made seven saves in defeat for Mount Saint Vincent.  In the end, Old Westbury outshot the Dolphins 21-11 during the match, including 10-3 on target.  The Panthers also kicked four corner kicks to the Dolphins three. 

MANHATTANVILLE VALIANTS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch for a non-conference battle on the road, taking on the Manhattanville Valiants on Wednesday (Oct. 26) in Purchase, New York. Kick-off is slated for 3 p.m. from GoValiants.com Field.
