Cassandra Esposito netted her 11th career hat trick. Old Westbury improves to 5-5 on the season and 4-1 in conference action while sending Purchase's season record to 4-5 and 2-3, respectively.
Old Westbury struck first in the 17th minute when
Cassandra Esposito settled a pass from
Victoria Dehel and scored inside the six-yard box to give OW a 1-0 lead. Dehel's assist was the first of her career. Old Westbury found the net again less than four minutes later, as
JoAnna Kettell assisted on Esposito's second goal off a cross to beat Purchase goalkeeper Kristen Racaniello to put OW ahead, 2-0. Old Westbury held a 2-0 lead at the end of the half, but were outshot, 8-6.
Old Westbury took a 3-0 in the 76th minute when
Kassandra Franco set up
JoAnna Kettell for her fourth goal of the season. Franco's assist was the first of her career. In the 78th minute, Esposito rattled the back of the net on an unassisted score to notch her third hat trick of the season and team-leading 10th goal. Esposito's put OW on top, 4-0 and would cruise from there for their fifth win of the season.
Old Westbury outshot Purchase 9-5 on goal and both teams finished with 13 shots.
Caitlin Thomas saved five balls to record her third clean sheet of the season for Old Westbury. Kristen Racaniello made five stops in defeat for Purchase.
