VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (
www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – – The SUNY College at Old Westbury softball team kicked off its season at the Virginia Wesleyan Beach Blast Friday evening at the Princess Anne Athletic Complex. Old Westbury split a pair of games in the season opening day, shutting out the Hood, 3-0, after falling to host Virginia Wesleyan Marlins, 4-1.
In the opener, OW pitcher
Alyssa Clancy was tagged with the loss, giving up four runs to Virginia Wesleyan.
Samantha Siegler drove in Old Westbury's lone run of the game as the Panthers fell 4-1 to Virginia Wesleyan.
Alyssa Clancy notched her seventh career shutout in leading the Panthers to a 3-0 victory over Hood.
Samantha Siegler added the fire power for Old Westbury, driving in two runs while
Nicole Mannino drove in the third and final run.
PEACE PACERS AND EASTERN MENNONITE ROYALS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: The Panthers return to the field for the final day of the Virginia Wesleyan Beach Blast on Saturday (Mar. 5) with the Peace Pacers and Eastern Mennonite Royals in Virginia Beach, Virginia. OW takes on the Pacers at 10 a.m. followed by the Royals at noon from the Princess Anne Athletic Complex.
