www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury Panthers softball team concluded a 3-1 week Saturday afternoon after splitting a Skyline Conference doubleheader with the NYU-Poly Fighting Blue Jays. Old Westbury swept past the Lehman Lighting on Friday with 10-0 and 13-2 run rule victories. OW defeated NYU-Poly 13-2 in six innings before falling 19-2 in five frames.
In the opener against Lehman, Genesis Batista hit a one out single in the fourth inning to break up a no-hit bid by OW starter
Alyssa Clancy. Batista's single was the only hit surrendered by Clancy. Old Westbury put the game away early with a four-run first inning on three hits and two errors.
Samantha Siegler delivered a sacrifice fly to left field that drove in
Nicole Petrucci from third for the games initial and eventual winning run.
Nicole Mannino followed with an RBI double that scored
Jennifer Jean. After Mannino scored on an error,
Lauren Isaac singled to send
Alyssa Clancy home for the fourth and final run of the inning. OW scored once in the second, four times in the fourth and one more time in the fifth.
Samantha Siegler paced OW's offensive attack with a pair of doubles in going 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
Alex Heaney and
Lauren Isaac both went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Alyssa Clancy spun her sixth shutout of the season (12th of career) with a one-hitter while striking out eight batters. Lehman's Genesis Batista was tagged with the loss after surrendering 10 runs (two earned) on nine hits and seven walks.
Old Westbury solidified the sweep of Lehman early with a four run first inning in the finale.
Jennifer Jean singled home
Samantha Howley for the opening run followed by
Alyssa Clancy's two run single.
Alex Heaney drove home Clancy to give OW an early 4-0 lead. After Lehman responded with two runs in the bottom of the first, OW answered back with four runs in the second, three in the third, two in the fourth and four more in the first to earn the run rule victory.
Alyssa Clancy went 2-for-4 in the game to go along with five RBI and two runs scored to lead the charge.
Jennifer Jean doubled twice and finished 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored while
Samantha Siegler (3-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 R) and
Nicole Petrucci (3-for-5, 2 RBI, 2 R) both registered three hits on the game.
Samantha Howley scored three runs and
Jessica Spero crossed the plate twice. Nicole Pinero and Vania Cadey registered multiple hits for Lehman.
Denise Zajonc picked up her second win of the season, improving to 2-0 after tossing a complete game. She allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk while fanning five batters. Natalie Martinez was charged with the Lehman loss after allowing 17 runs (10 earned) on 17 hits and eight walks. Martinez struck out three Panthers.
On Saturday, NYU-Poly grabbed an early 1-0 lead at the end of two innings off an RBI double by Christi Bruin. In the third inning,
Nicole Petrucci led off with a triple and Jennfier Jean stroked a two-run home run to put OW ahead, 2-1. Old Westbury opened up the scoring gates in the fifth inning when the Panthers scored five runs.

Samantha Howley and
Jennifer Jean delivered RBI singles in the inning to account for the five runs. OW tacked on six more runs in the sixth to earn the run rule victory over NYU-Poly.
Jennifer Jean slugged her way to a 3-for-4 game with six RBI and two runs scored coming off her two home run performance.
Samantha Siegler registered four hits in a 4-for-5 game with one score.
Lauren Isaac (3-for-4) and
Samantha Howley (1-for-2) drove in two runs and scored twice.
Alyssa Clancy picked up the victory for Old Westbury by allowing two runs (zero earned) on four hits and one walk to go with four strikeouts in a six inning complete game. Miranda Mirilli surrendered six runs on 10 hits and two walks over 4.2 innings of work in a losing effort.

Jessica Spero grounded to second with the bases loaded, allowing
Alyssa Clancy to score.
Nicole Petrucci helped OW to its second run of the game when she lifted a sacrifice fly out to center that scored
Lauren Isaac.
Lauren Isaac banged out two singles and score one run to lead the Old Westbury offensive attack. Karina Amaro clubbed a home run and finished with three RBI and three runs scored for NYU-Poly. Elizabeth Schrandt added a 3-for-4 game at the plate with four RBI and three runs scored.
Alyssa Clancy recorded just three outs and was charged with the loss. Clancy gave up 12 runs (11 earned) on seven walks and four hits before
Nicole Mannino relieved her for the final three innings. Briana Feist picked up the victory for NYU-Poly, giving up two runs on four hits and five walks.
