STATEN ISLAND, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury Panthers baseball team dropped a 4-1 game on the road to the Staten Island Dolphins Tuesday evening at CSI Baseball Complex. The loss moves OW to 17-15 while Staten Island improves to 18-13.

OW starting pitcher Ryan Bresnahan retired the first six Dolphins before Mark Glennerster singled to lead off the third. Three batters later, Glennerseter scored on an error by OW shortstop Benjamin Farias. Henry Roman followed with an RBI single that scored Sal Todaro to give CSI a two run advantage. Chris DeGennaro answered back for OW with an RBI single that scored Melvin Simmons for the lone Panther run of the game. Staten Island tacked on two insurance runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Joseph Falcone that scored Pat Gale and a fielder's choice that allowed Joe Cassano to score.

Ryan Bresnahan (1-5) took the loss for Old Westbury, giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks with one strikeout in seven innings of work. Steven Chapter worked a scoreless eighth to extend his shutout innings streak to 13 innings over his last five outings. Richard Anderson (4-2) pitched his way to his fourth victory of the season as he tossed his third complete game of the season. Anderson scattered eight hits to go along with a walk and allowed an unearned run while striking out two Panthers.

Chris DeGennaro (2-for-4) paced Old Westbury's offensive efforts with his seventh multi-hit performance of the season. Anthony Orsano (1-for-4) and Josef Schaetzle (1-for-4) both registered Old Westbury's lone extra base hits. Bryan Moreno and Pat Gale's pair of singles led Staten Island.

UNITED STATES MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY MARINERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: The Panthers return to the field for a non-conference battle Wednesday (Apr. 20) with the United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners on “Senior Day” at the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. in Old Westbury, New York.

Prior to first pitch, seniors Ryan Blanco (2008-11), Joshua Burgos (2008-11), Anthony Fernandez (2008-11), Jorge Hiraldo (2008-11), Ali Ferreiras (2010-11), Marvin Rosario (2010-11), Josef Schaetzle (2010-11) and Melvin Simmons (2010-11) will be honored for their dedication to Old Westbury Athletics.
