OLD WESTBURY, NY
(www.oldwestburypanthers.com) –The SUNY College at Old Westbury Panthers softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with the visiting Hunter Hawks Thursday from the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex. The split moves Old Westbury to 20-9 on the season while Hunter now stands at 17-9-2.

In the opener, Old Westbury's Alyssa Clancy and Hunter's Angel Iacovetti where poised for a pitchers dual. Alex Heaney delivered the offensive fireworks in the fifth inning, doubling home Lauren Isaac for the eventual game-winner.

Nicole Mannino collected two hits in three at-bats to lead Old Westbury's offense. Alyssa Clancy improved to 18-7 on the season by notching her eighth shutout (14th career) after striking out four and allowing just three hits. Angel Iacovetti took the loss for Hunter, dropping to 8-5 on the season. Iacovetti struck out eight batters and surrendering one unearned run on four hits and a walk.

Hunter jumped ahead by two runs in the opening inning of game two. Julia Lipovac doubled home Crissette Maxwell to break the scoring ice and later scored on an error by shortstop Nicole Petrucci. Old Westbury answered back with three runs in the second to take a 3-2 lead. Lauren Isaac singled through the right side that scored Alyssa Clancy and Jennifer Jean. Nicole Petrucci delivered a run scoring single to knock home Isaac for OW's final run of the game. Hunter quickly responded in the top of the third with three more runs off three hits and one error to take the lead for good.

Samantha Siegler banged out a pair of singled and Lauren Isaac drove in two runs to pace the Panther offense. Josephine Estevez went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored while Julia Lipovac scored twice.

Old Westbury's Denise Zajonc was charged with the loss, moving her record to 2-2. Zajonc gave up four runs (three earned) on three hits and three walks before Alyssa Clancy worked the final 4.2 innings in relief. Clancy allowed an unearned run on four hits. Amanda Annicaro improved to 7-3 on the season after going the distance for Hunter's victory. Annicaro struck out three and gave up three runs on seven hits.
