FARMINGDALE, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury Panthers softball team defeated Farmingdale State in game one, 8-0, before falling 18-0 in game two for a Skyline Conference split on the road Sunday afternoon. The split moves OW to 9-6 on the season and 6-2 in conference play while Farmingdale State now sits at 17-3 and 5-1, respectively.

Old Westbury scored runs in the opening three frames to hand Farmingdale State its first conference loss of the season in game one. In the second, OW added five more runs to its total on five hits. Heaney singled to drive in Jessica Spero followed by a three-run homer by Samantha Siegler to put OW on top, 5-0. Jennifer Jean tripled and was doubled home by Clancy to close out the second inning scoring. Two more runs crossed the plate for OW in the third as Lauren Isaac scored on a wild pitch and Heaney delivered a single to plate home Spero.

Sophomore Alyssa Clancy (9-5) struck out her 200th batter of her career when she fanned Jennifer Jarczynski to open the third inning. Clancy had a no-hitter working until Rebecca Richman led off the fourth with a single. Clancy finished with seven strikeouts and allowed just one hit to earn the victory. Heather Buckshaw took the loss after surrendering eight runs on eight hits and three walks in two innings of circle work.

Farmingdale State answered back in game two with an 18-0 no-hitter to force the split. Farmingdale State scored seven in the first, two runs in the second, five in the third and four more in the fourth. Alyssa Clancy was tagged with the loss, after just one inning of work. She allowed seven runs (one earned) on six hits and one walk before Denise Zajonc took over for the final three innings. Hope Zino picked up her 10th win of the season, striking out 11 and walking four to earn the no-hitter.
