(www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – No. 3 SUNY College at Old Westbury Panthers softball team was eliminated from the 2011 Skyline Conference Championship Tournament following a 2-1 loss to No. 4 Mount Saint Mary Saturday afternoon in Farmingdale, New York. Old Westbury moves to 20-11 on the season. Mount Saint Mary improves to 21-12-1 and will take on the No. 2 NYU-Poly for a chance to face No. 1 Farmingdale State in Championship Sunday.

Both teams cruised into the fifth inning until OW's Jessica Spero led off with a double. Two batters later, Samantha Howley singled up the middle to score Spero for OW's one run lead. Mount Saint Mary responded in the sixth with a two run single by Ashley Peel that scored Lacey Kehlenbeck and Brittany O'Brien for the game-tying and game-winning runs.

Jennifer Jean led OW's offense with a 2-for-3 game at the plate while Samantha Howley drove in Jessica Spero for Old Westbury's lone run. Ashley Peel drove in two RBI in leading Mount Saint Mary to victory.

Alyssa Clancy struck out six without any walks despite being held accountable for the loss. Clancy gave up two runs on five hits in six innings of work. Caitlin Maynes registered five strikeouts and picked up MSM's win. Maynes went seven innings in the circle, allowing one run on five hits and a walk.
