OLD WESTBURY, NY
(www.oldwestburypanthers.com) –   The SUJNY College at Old Westbury Panthers baseball team fell 4-0 to the Oneonta State Red Dragons Friday afternoon at Red Dragons Baseball Field. The loss snapped OW's eight game-winning streak, moving the Panthers to 12-11 on the season, while Oneonta State improves to 13-6.

Oneonta State broke a scoreless game in the second frame when they scored on a pair of costly errors that proved to be the eventual game-winning run. William Rivas reached on an error by Panther shortstop Benjamin Farias. Rivas advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and moved over to third on a grounder before scoring on an error by OW starter Ryan Bresnahan. The Red Dragons struck again in the fourth when Mike Mascari stroked a two-out double to right field and scored on a single by Dean Haussel. Oneonta State planted two more runs in the eighth inning as back-to-back singles set the stage for Dean Haussel's two-run double to right center.

Joseph Caraballo delivered his third straight multi-hit game (fourth of season) with two singles in three trips to the plate. Benjamin Farias also singled to round out OW's offense. Joseph Guido, Farias and Caraballo also snagged one base each on the path. Dean Haussel (2-4, 3 RBI), Kevin Knack (2-4) and Bryan Marotta (2-2, R) all registered multiple hits.

Ryan Bresnahan (1-3) was dealt the loss for Old Westbury in one of his finer outings on the season. He surrendered four runs (three earned) on eight hits and a walk while striking out a career-high five batters. Corey Andresen was victorious for Oneonta State, improving to 2-1 on the season after notching a three-hit shutout. Anderson fanned four Panthers and dealt out a pair of free passes.

MARITIME PRIVATEERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: The Panthers return to the field for a Skyline Conference doubleheader Sunday (Apr. 10) at home with the Maritime Privateers for the inaugural Prostate Cancer Awareness Day at the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex. First pitch is slated for 12 Noon in Old Westbury, New York. The Panthers and Privateers invite fans to join them on the field at 9:30 a.m. when they take six trips around the bases for a Prostate Cancer Awareness Walk.
