(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) ––The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's basketball team snapped a nine game losing streak against the Farmingdale State Rams when they came away with a 64-57 Skyline Conference victory at home on Wednesday evening.  With the win, OW extends their win streak to seven, improving to 12-6 on the season and 7-2 in conference action while Farmingdale State dropped to 8-7 and 7-1, respectively.

Farmingdale State got on the board first with a three-pointer by Nikita Green for the early advantage.  Abigail Williams and Denise Zajonc * went back-to-back on trey's to give OW a 6-3 lead.  Farmingdale took the lead back from 14:23 to 7:55, holding slim 13-10 edge.  Old Westbury replied with a 20-7 run over the final 7:31 to take a 30-20 lead into the break.

Old Westbury's lead ballooned to as many as 14 with 7:30 left in the second-half off a Clarissa Gallagher triple.  Farmingdale State answered back with a 17-4 run from 6:33 to 1:26 to pull within one point, 55-54.  Old Westbury outscored the Rams 9-3 to close out the final 1:06.

Kim Weathers and Deslyn Applewhaite led the Panthers with 11 points each.  Denise Zajonc * followed with nine while Antoinette Jolly had seven points, eight rebounds and two steals.  DeAndra Scott grabbed eight boards off the bench.

Jeanette Zubizarreta scored a game-high 19 points off the Farmingdale State bench, hitting on 5-of-14 from three-point territory.  Baytania Newman went for 18 points, seven rebounds and seven steals while Dominique Cunningham and Natasha Smalls each pulled down 12 boards. 

Old Westbury outshot Farmingdale State from the field 31.6 percent (18-57) to 26.9 percent (18-67).  Old Westbury connected on5-of-15 from three-point land while Farmingdale State hit 7-of-30.  Old Westbury knocked down 23-of-33 from the free-throw line while Farmingdale State sank 14-of-21.  OW also enjoyed a 51-39 rebounding advantage.

VAUGHN WARRIORS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: The Panthers return to the hardwood for a non-conference matchup on Saturday (Jan. 28) when they host the Vaughn Warriors in Old Westbury, New York.  Game time is set to tip at 4 p.m. inside the Clark Athletic Center.
