(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's basketball team cruised past the visiting Vaughn Warriors, 75-8, Saturday afternoon in non-conference action in Old Westbury, New York.  Old Westbury wins for the eighth straight game, pushing their record to 13-6 on the season while Vaughn fell to 0-9.

Old Westbury scored the opening 13 points of the game before Steffi Soler's jumper with 15:03 put Vaughn on the board.  Old Westbury held the Warriors scoreless over the remaining 15:02 of the half and took a 33-2 lead into the half.

Old Westbury roared out of the second half with a 32-0 run to take a 55-2 lead until Steffi Soler's jumper with 13:16 made it 55-4.  Old Westbury outscored Vaughn 20-4 over the final 11:02 of regulation to earned a 75-8 victory.

Clarissa Gallagher paced Old Westbury by scoring a game-high 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field.  Antoinette Jolly, Ruth Vargas and Deslyn Applewhaite chipped in with 10 points each while Denise Zajonc * nabbed a game-high four steals.  Kim Weathers tied a career-high with 12 rebounds while Re'auna Dorner swept away three steals.  All 12 active Panthers scored in the victory. 

Steffi Soler scored all eight of Vaughn's points to go along with five rebounds and three steals in 40 minutes of action. 

Old Westbury outshot Vaughn from the field 49.3 percent (35-71) to 10.3 percent (4-39).  Old Westbury connected on 3-of-12 from three-point land while Vaughn went 0-of-9.  Old Westbury knocked down 2-of-5 from the free-throw line while Vaughn went 0-of-2.  OW also enjoyed a 49-17 rebounding advantage, turning 22 offensive boards into 13 points.  Old Westbury also converted 28 Warrior turnovers into 33 points. 

MOUNT SAINT VINCENT DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: The Panthers return to the hardwood for a Skyline Conference battle on Wednesday (Feb. 1) when they host the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins in Old Westbury, New York.  Game time is set to tip at 7 p.m. inside the Clark Athletic Center.
