WOMEN’S SOCCER SINKS MARITIME, 7-0

Stephanie Maybie's hat-trick leads Old Westbury to second consecutive Skyline Conference shutout

OLD WESTBURY, NY
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer rolled to a 7-0 win over the visiting Maritime Privateers in Skyline Conference action on Saturday afternoon from Panther Park.  The Panthers (7-8) improve to 4-2 in conference play while the Privateers (0-15) fall to 0-7.  Prior to kick-off, Old Westbury and Maritime players, coaches along with fans participated in the 1-in-9 breast cancer awareness walk around Panther Park at the third annual “Score For The Cure” Breast Cancer Awareness Match.  Old Westbury is now 3-0 all-time in “Score For The Cure” matches.

Old Westbury built a 4-0 lead in the opening half.  JoAnna Kettell found Stephanie Maybie for goals in the opening minute and the 9:47 mark to put Old Westbury ahead early on.  Maybie's game-winner was the seventh of her career while Kettell's multiple assist performance was her fourth career.   JoAnna Kettell and Julianne Abel added goals in the 13th and 34th minutes to cap the first-half scoring.  Marissa Brightman netted her second career goals, compliments of Anna Noens, who recorded a pair of assists in the win.  Maybie notched her second-career hat-trick in the 80th minute with Kassandra Franco picking up her second assist of the season.  Kettell closed out the scoring in the 88th minute with her ninth-career multi-goal game. 

Old Westbury outshot Maritime 58-0 with a 32-0 edge on goal.  The Panthers also earned 11 corner kicks.  Old Westbury keepers Caitlin Thomas and Heather Grosso combined for Old Westbury's fifth shutout of the season.  Maritime's Meghin Paczkowski recorded 25 saves in defeat. 

ST. JOSEPH'S-L.I. GOLDEN EAGLES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch for a Skyline Conference battle on Wednesday afternoon, taking on the visiting St. Joseph's-L.I. Golden Eagles in Old Westbury, New York.  Kick-off is slated for 4 p.m. from Panther Park.
