www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team scored early and held on for a 1-0 Skyline Conference home win over the visiting Purchase Panthers on Saturday afternoon from Panther Park. The win improves Old Westbury (4-14) to 3-5 in conference play while Purchase (6-8-1) fell to 3-6.
In the opening moments of the match, OW's
Scott Carey rattled the back of the net in the fourth minute to record his second goal of the season and third career game-winner.
Michael Bayne and
DJ Stock grabbed credit on the assist that sent OW to victory. Old Westbury's defense took care of the rest as keeper
Peter Sicardi tied a career-high with 10 saves to preserve the win. Michael Beckett made nine saves in defeat for Purchase.
Purchase held a 24-16 shot advantage while both teams drew even in shots on goal (10-10) and corner kicks (3-3).
YESHIVA MACCEBEES UP NEXT FOR OLD WESTBURY: Old Westbury returns to the pitch for a Skyline Conference finale on Thursday evening, taking on the Yeshiva Maccabees in Bronx, New York. Kick-off is slated for 8 p.m. from Lehman College.
