MEN’S SOCCER TEAM PUTS AWAY MOUNT SAINT VINCENT, 5-0

Marcelo Guardado recorded his second straight shutout

GARDEN CITY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –   The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team recorded its second straight Skyline Conference victory on Saturday afternoon with a 5-0 topping of the visiting Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins from St. Paul's Recreation Complex.  The win improves Old Westbury (3-10) to 2-2 in conference action while sending Mount Saint Vincent (2-6-1) to 0-5.

To open the scoring, Jon Kerby took a pass from Andrew Moorman for his second goal of the season in the 35th minute for a 1-0 Old Westbury lead.  Less than 10 minutes later, Moorman was at it again, setting up Michael Mosher for his second goal of the season in the 45th minute, giving Old Westbury a 2-0 lead heading into the half.  Moorman was credited with his team-leading fourth assist of the season after setting up the opportunity. 

Ryan Finnin blasted his first career goal into the back of the net in the 61st minute.  Steven Burgos put Old Westbury ahead by four goals in the 78th as Robert Dezendorf found him for his first score of the season.  Tana Weekes scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 89th minute after receiving a pass from Bryan Bolivar to close out the scoring. 

On the day, Old Westbury outshot the Dolphins 36-7, including a 19-3 advantage in shots on target.  Scott Carey led Old Westbury with seven attempts, while Alec Adeclat had six shots and Steven Burgos had five. 

Old Westbury keeper Marcelo Guardado recorded his second consecutive shutout, making three saves in net to earn the win.  Juan Alatriste made 14 saves in defeat for Mount Saint Vincent. 

RUTGERS-NEWARK SCARLET RAIDERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch for a non-conference battle on Monday evening, taking on the Rutgers-Newark Scarlet Raiders in Newark, New Jersey.  Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. from Alumni Field.
