OLD WESTBURY, NY
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's basketball team cruised past the visiting Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins on Wednesday evening in Skyline Conference action from the Clark Athletic Center.  Old Westbury extended their win streak to nine games and are now 14-6 on the season and 8-2 in conference action while the Dolphins fell to 5-13 and 1-8, respectively. 

Old Westbury roared out of the starting gates with a 7-0 run to take an early advantage.  Mount Saint Vincent scored 11 of the next 18 points to pull within three points of Old Westbury, 14-11, with 12:06 remaining.  Old Westbury replied with 17-4 run from 11:46 to 2:13 to grab a 31-14 advantage and took a 31-18 lead into the half. 

Old Westbury kept a double digit lead the entire second half, building their advantage up to 22 off a three-pointer by Clarissa Gallagher with 16:40 left on the clock.  Kim Weathers sank a jumper with 46 seconds remaining to give Old Westbury a 37 point lead, their largest of the game. 

Denise Zajonc * tied a season-high with 17 points to lead the way for Old Westbury.  Clarissa Gallagher contributed 12 points and four assists while Kim Weathers and DeAndra Scott both followed with 10 points.  Deslyn Applewhaite chipped in with eight points, 12 rebounds four assist and three steals.  Antoinette Jolly registered seven points and five steals and Ruth Vargas tallied nine points and two blocks. 

Kelly Fraser scored a game-high 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor to lead Mount Saint Vincent.  Amy Delva had 10 points off the bench while Kara McNish pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds. 

Old Westbury outshot Mount Saint Vincent from the field 39.7 percent (29-72) to 23.1 percent (15-65).  Old Westbury connected on 8-of-21 from three-point land while Mount Saint Vincent went 2-of-11.  Old Westbury knocked down 12-of-18 from the free-throw line while Mount Saint Vincent went 13-of-20.  Mount Saint Vincent earned a 47-45 rebounding advantage, turning19 offensive boards into just six points.  Old Westbury converted 27 Dolphin turnovers into 26 points.

MOUNT SAINT MARY KNIGHT KNIGHTS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: The Panthers return to the hardwood for a Skyline Conference matchup on Saturday (Feb. 4) when they travel to Newburgh, New York to take on the Mount Saint Mary Knights.  Game time is set to tip at 1 p.m.
