OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury softball team swept a pair of run-rule victories from the visiting John Jay Bloodhounds at home on Wednesday afternoon from the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.  Old Westbury improves to 19-13 on the season while John Jay dropped to 7-23.

Alyssa Clancy doubled in the first inning to drive in Jennifer Jean and Samantha Siegler for what proved to be the eventual game-winning runs.  Three batters later, Nicole Mannino reached on an error by second baseman Kalyssa Daley that allowed Clancy to cross the plate for Old Westbury's 3-0 lead.  Siegler hit a run scoring single to score Jean in the second, making it a 4-0 game.  In the fourth, Clancy hit an infield grounder that scored Jean, followed by a run scoring double by Jessica ColucciAlex Heaney sealed the victory in the fifth with a two-run single as Old Westbury captured the 8-0 run-rule victory.   

Deborah Ciccarelli struck out two batters and improved to 7-6 on the season by tossing a no-hitter.  Ciccarelli retired her first 10 batters and walked Daley in the fourth, but recovered by retiring her next five batters.  Lana Kovac (4-11) took John Jay's loss after serving up eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. 

Jennifer Jean (2-3, 3 R, 2 SB, BB) and Samantha Siegler (2-2, RBI, 2 R, BB) led Old Westbury's offense with multi-hit games while Alyssa Clancy (1-2, 3 RBI, R, BB) drove in three and Alex Heaney (1-4) plated two runs. 

Once again it was Alyssa Clancy delivering the game-winning hit, singling home Nicole Petrucci in the opening frame for Old Westbury's early 1-0 lead. Clancy added to Old Westbury's lead in the second, driving in Jennifer Jean and Alex Heaney off a single to make it 3-0.  Clancy lifted a sacrifice fly out to center field that scored Petrucci in the fifth and two batters later, Lauren Isaac doubled in two more for Old Westbury's 6-0 lead.  In the fifth, Clancy drew a bases loaded walk to score Heaney followed by Jessica Colucci's infield single that scored Petrucci to close out the run-rule victory. 

Jessica Colucci (3-4, RBI, R) led the way with a career-high three hits while Nicole Petrucci (2-3, 3 R, 2 SB), Alyssa Clancy (2-2, 5 RBI, BB), Lauren Isaac (2-3, 2 RBI), Deborah Ciccarelli (2-3) and Alex Heaney (2-3, 2 R) collected multi-hit games.  Clancy tied a career-high with five RBI's, Petrucci scored three runs and Heaney followed with two.  Crystal Johnson (1-2) and Nelly Vega (1-2) each doubled for John Jay's extra base hits. 

Alyssa Clancy (12-7) posted her sixth shutout of the season, scattering three hits and striking out four over five innings of work.  Crystal Johnson (3-12) was charged with eight runs on 14 hits and three walks in defeat for John Jay.
        
HUNTER HAWKS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: The Panthers return to action for a non-conference doubleheader on Friday (Apr. 20) against the Hunter Hawks from Randalls Island Field 12 at 3 p.m.
