Old Westbury sweeps Skyline Conference doubleheader to even up at 11-11 on the season

CORTLANDT MANOR, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury softball team picked up two Skyline Conference wins against the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins Monday evening from Trout Brook Park.  The Panthers defeated Mount Saint Vincent, 12-0, in the first game and, 10-1, in the second game to sweep the road doubleheader.  Old Westbury (11-11) improved to 4-4 in conference play as the Dolphins (6-20) fell 0-8.

Old Westbury compiled 11 hits in the first game, led by four hits from Samantha SieglerAlyssa Clancy added two hits while Siegler and Jennifer Jean scored two runs apiece.  Marni O'Shea hit a two-out single in the third to record Mount Saint Vincent's lone hit of the game.   

Pitcher Alyssa Clancy (5-6) got the complete-game shutout victory in the circle for Old Westbury, throwing six innings of one-hit ball and striking out seven.  Kathleen Davis (4-16) lasted just three innings to take Mount Saint Vincent's loss, surrendering 10 runs (one earned) off nine hits and two walks.

Old Westbury scored 10 runs in the third to put the game out of reach from Mount Saint Vincent.  Samantha Siegler's run scoring single in the third gave Old Westbury a 1-0 lead. Marissa Brightman followed by scoring off a wild pitch for a 2-0 edge during Old Westbury's next at-bat. 

Old Westbury picked up the victory in game two by scoring 10 runs off four hits and five errors.
Alyssa Clancy (6-6) got the win in the finale, striking out seven batters over five innings of work, allowing one run off six hits.  Kathleen Davis (4-17) was tagged with the Dolphin loss, serving up 10 runs (four earned) off four hits and six walks in six innings. 

Jennifer Jean tallied a pair of hits; RBI's and runs scored while Nicole Petrucci also scored two runs for Old Westbury.  Clancy and Jean both tripled for Old Westbury's lone extra base hits.  Joanna Makayan and Kathleen Davis both registered multiple hits to lead Mount Saint Vincent.   

Old Westbury jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first with Alyssa Clancy's run-scoring triple followed by scoring off Jennifer Jean's base-hit.  Kathleen Davis singled home Leeann Cerbone in the third for Mount Saint Vincent's lone run of the day. 

STATEN ISLAND DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: The Panthers are back in action on Tuesday(Apr. 10) for a non-conference road doubleheader against the Staten Island Dolphins at 5 p.m. in Staten Island, New York.
