BROOKLYN, NY (
www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team cruised past the York Cardinals 5-0 in non-conference road action Monday afternoon from Aviator Field. The win improves Old Westbury to 3-6 on the season while York moved to 1-5-1.
To open the scoring,
Stephanie Maybie scored her team leading sixth goal in the 13th minute as
JoAnna Kettell tallied her second assist of the season. Less than 14 minutes later, Maybie was at it again this time recording her team-best third assist as
Jordan Schildt doubled Old Westbury's advantage with a score in the 21st minute. Old Westbury took a 2-0 lead into the half.
The combination of Maybie to Schildt struck again in the 56th minute, giving Old Westbury a commanding 3-0 lead with Schildt's second goal of the season. Kettell got involved in the scoring mix, netting Old Westbury's fourth and fifth goals to close out the scoring. Kettell's goal in the 64th minute was unassisted while her score in the 85th minute was assisted by
Caitlin Thomas, her first career helper.
In the end, Old Westbury held a 39-1 edge in shots, including a 21-1 advantage on target. Old Westbury also controlled the corner, 9-1. Old Westbury's
Heather Grosso was forced to make on e save, posting her fourth career shutout. Kiara Liberos took the loss for York, registering 16 saves in defeat.
