MAYBIE, KERBY SCORE IN WOMEN’S SOCCER 3-2 OVERTIME LOSS AT MANHATTANVILLE

Morgan Zuhoski assisted on both goals for Old Westbury

PURCHASE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team's comeback attempt fell just short Wednesday afternoon, as the Panthers lost, 3-2, in overtime to the Manhattanville Valiants from GoValiants.com Field.  With the loss, Old Westbury moves to 3-7 on the season while Manhattanville improved to 4-5.

Manhattanville broke the scoring ice at the 4:14 minute mark, as Brittney Smith scored on a pass from Rebollal Morgan for an early 1-0 lead.  In the 13th minute, Stephanie Maybie collected a pass from Morgan Zuhoski, and slotted the ball into the back of the net to put the Panthers on the board.  Smith regained the lead for Manhattanville in the 25th minute, with the assist going to Kristin Mallett.  Zuhoski picked up her second assist of the game late in the first half when she sent a corner kick to Jasmine Kerby, who used her head to knot the game at two-all in the 44th minute.  Manhattanville held an 8-4 shot advantage in the first half.

In a scoreless second half, Manhattanville fired off four shots while preventing Old Westbury from registering a single shot attempt.  In the extra frame, Old Westbury struggled to record a shot for a game-winner, and the Valiants capitalized in the 92nd minute to secure the win.  Rebecca Breve fired a laser from 25 yards out that curled out to the left post past Old Westbury keeper Caitlin Thomas.

In the end, Manhattanville held the advantage in shots (14-4) and corner kicks (10-3).  Caitlin Thomas made one save in defeat for Old Westbury as her counterpart Grace Kraemer made two saves for Manhattanville.
