Box Score
COLONIE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - Andrew Bartoah scored the game-winning goal in the 30th minute as the Sage Gators men's soccer team defeated the SUNY College of Old Westbury, 1-0, in Skyline Conference play on Tuesday evening from Colonie High School. The Gators improved to 5-3-1 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play at 3-0, while the Panthers fell to 4-5-1, 0-2-1 in league play.

For the hosts, goalie Tim Madden registered a clean sheet with five saves and Gustavo Trinidad assisted on the game-winning goal. Goalie Marcelo Guardado collected seven saves for the Panthers and Anthony Ippolito led the team with three shots on the night.

The Panthers stormed out of intermission looking for the equalizer. They out-shot Sage, 7-5, in the second half; four of the seven shots came within the first 20 minutes. The posts were unkind to the visitors in the second half. In the 50th minute, Ippolito fired a shot that hit the right post and in the 68th minute, Scott Carey laced a rocket, which hit the crossbar. The Panthers continued their surge to tie the game, however, Madden denied Ippolito's approach in the 78th minute and in the 80th minute, and Jesse Eyoma headed the ball wide, as he attempted to re-direct Ippoloito's corner kick into the net.

Old Westbury missed two early chances to score the game's opening goal. Michael Bayne headed the ball wide in the 16th minute and two minutes later, Angelo DiMatteo's header was on target, but was stuffed by Madden. Sage scored the game's lonely goal in the 30th minute on a fluke play.  In the 30th minute, Bartoah fired a shot, which was initially saved by Guardado, however, he dropped the ball and the ball rolled across the goal line for a 1-0 Gators edge.

For the match, Sage out-shot Old Westbury, 13-11, while each team totaled six corner kicks on the evening.

FARMINGDALE STATE RAMS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury looks to end their two-game losing skid when they take on the Farmingdale State Rams on Saturday (Oct. 5) in Skyline Conference action from Rams Field in Farmingdale, New York at 12 p.m.
