Two late goals by Old Westbury were not enough to overcome deficit in 9-2 setback to St. Joseph’s-L.I.

PATCHOGUE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team were handed a 9-2 defeat by the St. Joseph's-L.I. Golden Eagles on Saturday afternoon in Skyline Conference action from Danzi Stadium.  The loss moved Old Westbury (9-8-2) to 4-4-1 as conference play concluded while the Golden Eagles (4-12-3) improved to 3-4-1 in conference action.
St. Joseph's-L.I. grabbed control early on when Andrew Stasiewicz found Cody Kull at the 3:45 mark to break the scoring ice.  Moments later, Kull answered again at 7:59 by heading in a corner from Chris Hall to double the Golden Eagles' advantage.

Stasiewicz made it a 3-0 game in the 10th while goals by Hall (21st & 26th minutes), Enrique Tirado (33rd minute) and Chris Desimone (42nd minute) provided the Golden Eagles with a 7-0 lead, including an 11-1 edge in shots to close out the first half.

Hall opened scored his third goal of the game just 1:03 into second half play followed by a George Ekstrom penalty kick that made it 9-0 in the 60th minute.  Old Westbury found the back of the net in the 83rd minute as Kosi Ikwauzom received a pass from Chris Knox to bury his second goal of the season.  Ikwauzom then returned the favor in the 88th minute to dish out his second helper of the season on Knox's second career goal.  However, Old Westbury grabbed momentum a little too late as St. Joseph's-L.I. earned a 9-2 final.

Old Westbury held a 12-6 shot advantage in the second half as St. Joseph's-L.I. took a 17-13 edge for the game and 8-3 in corner kicks.  Ikwauzom tied a career high with four shots to pace Old Westbury.

Panthers goalie Marcelo Guardado allowed five goals and made four saves over the opening 62:55 before Peter Sicardi gave up the other four goals over the remaining 27:05.  Avery Gomez grabbed four saves in a complete game for St. Joseph's-L.I.

With the six-team Skyline Conference Championship Tournament getting underway next Saturday (Nov. 2), Old Westbury will be paying close attention to see how things shake out in the final games of the regular season around league play, which will determine if the Panthers return to the tournament for the first time since 2011.
