@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer Eliminated in Skyline Conference Semis

Old Westbury topped in the semifinal round for the third straight season

NEWBURGH, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) -The fourth-seeded SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team fell 4-0 in the Skyline Conference Championship Tourna semifinal round to top seeded Mount Saint Mary Knights Wednesday evening from Kaplan Field.  Old Westbury (13-8) will now wait for Monday when the ECAC announces the field of eight for the metro region championship tournament (Nov. 13, 16-17).  Mount Saint Mary (15-4) advances to Championship Saturday against No. 2 Farmingdale State at 12 p.m. in Newburgh, New York.

Goalie Caitlin Thomas grabbed nine saves in between Old Westbury's pipes in a complete game effort as the Panthers were outshot 29-3 (13-2 on goal).  Thomas' counterpart Jacquelyn Mancini made two saves and continued her dominance with her seventh conference shutout.

Stephanie Maybie, Krystal Guerrero and JoAnna Kettell each registered shots, with Maybie and Guerrero each firing away on target.
Vanessa DiSilvio buried her third goal of the season past a diving Thomas to break the scoring ice in the 25th minute for her second game-winner of the season.  Shanice Robe received a pass from Danica Sommer to double the Knights' advantage with her 25th goal of the season (60th career) for a 2-0 lead in the 36th minute.  Just 1:32 later the Knights struck again when Julianne DiDonato found Melissa Guillemette to make it a 3-0 game on her third goal of the season.  Mount Saint Mary held a 15-0 edge in shots through the opening 45 minutes for a 3-0 lead.

In the second half, Old Westbury made adjustments to slow down Mount Saint Mary but were unable to overcome the three goal deficit as Guillemette answered with the lone second half goal in the 79th minute.
