Box Score
YAPHANK, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury baseball team knocked in two runs in the ninth to rally past the Baruch Bearcats, 3-2, in a non-conference action Saturday afternoon from Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, New York.  Old Westbury improves to 3-2 on the season while Baruch fell to 1-4.

In the top of the ninth, John Angelino drove in two off the game-winning ground-rule double to right, lifting Old Westbury to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory.  Angelino accumulated two of the Panthers' six hits in the contest, batting 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and stole bases.

After a scoreless first two innings, Old Westbury struck first by playing small ball. Eddie Hernandez walked to lead off the Panthers' third and then swiped second. He advanced 90 feet on a groundout and proceeded to score on an RBI groundout by Jeremy Delgado.

Over the course of the next five innings, it was a pitchers' duel as both starters, Frank DiMaria of Old Westbury and Baruch's Paul Perez combined to allow only one batter to reach past second base during the span. DiMaria recorded a no-decision in his 7.1 innings of work, by allowing no runs, one walk, and striking out five. Perez took the hard luck loss, tossing a complete game with two strikeouts and six hits.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Bearcats tied and took the lead on two unearned runs.  Baruch's Nicolas Pomo-Roman was hit by the pitch.   He immediately swiped both second and third base and the next batter, Daniel Arango reached base on an Old Westbury miscue.   With two runners in scoring position, Pomo-Roman scored on a Panther error and Arango scored on a Phillip Loprete's RBI single.

The winning rally started with one out in the ninth when Jonathan Pagan was hit by the pitch.  Kevin Licul smoked a single to right, which advanced Pagan to third.  Licul stole second and with two runners in scoring position, the stage was set for Angelino's heroics.

In the bottom of the ninth, Alex DiSanto induced a fly-out and a groundout to thwart a Baruch rally with a runner in scoring position, earning his second save of the season.

Stephen Chapter earned his first win of the season in relief, by striking out two and allowing one hit to close out the eighth inning. Brian Walsh added his second multi-hit game of the season, hitting 2-for-4 at the plate with a double.

Baruch was led offensively by Jasdeep Butar's 2-for-4 day at the plate.
