SCHENECTADY, NY (
www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) -The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's lacrosse team (2-8, 1-5 Skyline) fell to the Sage Gators (2-5, 2-1 Skyline), 14-4, Wednesday afternoon in Skyline Conference action from Frank Bailey Field in Schenectady, New York.
Mallory Hansen put the Gators ahead 1-0 with her 10th goal of the season just 1:23 into the contest. Sage scored two more goals before
Courtney Gallagher netted a goal with 22:40 remaining to break Old Westbury's scoring ice.
Hansen added her second of three goals on the day at 20:46 to go up 4-1. The Panthers would trim its deficit to one point, on back-to-back goals by Gallagher and
Jessica Walker, but Sage had an answer.
The Gators ended the half on a 5-0 run and stretched that run to 8-0 in the first 13 minutes of the second half to take a 12-3 lead. Walker's goal with 16:42 left was followed by a pair of Gator goals to close out the scoring.
Courtney Gallagher scored two goals to push her team-leading total to 19.
Jessica Walker netted Old Westbury's other two goals and
JoAnna Kettell took a team-high four shots, while Gallagher and
Jordan Schildt followed with three. Between the pipes,
Sara Braverman made 13 saves.
Alexa Pajak tallied six goals and three assists to pace Sage. In goal, Courtney Reeed stopped four shots to record the victory.
RAMAPO ROADRUNNERS UP NEXT FOR OLD WESTBURY: Old Westbury returns to action on Tuesday (April 2) when they take on the Ramapo Roadrunners in Skyline Conference action. The game will be played in Mahwah, New Jersey with the opening draw control to commence at 4 p.m.
