www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) -The SUNY College at Old Westbury softball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader on the road to the Keene State Owls on Friday afternoon from the Owl Athletic Complex. The Panthers fell 6-5 in the opener before losing 6-1 in the finale. Old Westbury now stands at 7-9 on the season and Keene State improved to 7-7.
Game One : Keene State 6, Old Westbury 5
Keene State wasted little time flexing their offensive muscles, posting three runs in the first off starter
Alyssa Clancy, Nicole Dupuis lifted a sacrifice fly out to center field to score Stephanie Long to break the scoring ice while Jessica Fiorenza cracked open a two-run homer.
Old Westbury answered in the fifth with a run-scoring single off the bat of
Alex Heaney to score
Jacqui Alvarado,
Keene added two more runs in the sixth, with Dupios stroking a run-scoring single and Morgan Fallon hit an RBI single.
Old Westbury tied the game at 5-5 with a grand slam courtesy of
Samantha Howley, her first of her career. However, Keene State rebounded with a walk-off Long solo homer for the game-winner.
Alyssa Clancy (7-8) took the loss, surrendering six runs on nine hits while striking out five.
Keene State's Mariah Crisp (5-2) fanned 10 while allowing five to score off seven hits.
Alex Heaney's 2-for-3 game at the plate paced Old Westbury while Stephanie Long (2-4, 2 R, RBI) and Jessica Fiorenza (2-3, 2 RBI, R) led Keene State.

Old Westbury lit up the scoreboard first in the finale when
Corrine Protasiewicz singled home
Jennifer Jean in the first inning to take the lead.
The lead was short lived for the Panthers as the Owls posted a three-spot in the home half of the first via a three-run homer by Meryl Ragaini. Ragaini also collected an RBI in the fifth by doubling in Christy McGraw.
Keene State tacked on two more runs in the sixth off a Stephanie Long run scoring double and an unearned run by
Alyssa Clancy's fielding miscue closed outed the scoring books.
Alyssa Clancy (7-8) struck out five in five innings of work and suffered the loss, giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits while handing out one free pass.
Emily McKay was charged with two runs (one earned) after relieving Clancy in the sixth.
Kellie Saunders (2-1) grabbed the win after surrendering one run on five hits in 5.2 innings of work before Mariah Crisp retired three of four batters on strikes to earn her first save of the season.
Jacqui Alvarado's double in the sixth inning was Old Westbury's lone extra base hit in a 2-for-3 game at the plate.
Meryl Ragaini (2-4, 4 RBI, R) and Christy McGraw (2-4, 2 R) paced Keene State with multiple hits as the Owls held a slim 8-6 edge in hits.
