POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury baseball team had to settle for a 2-2 tie on the road with the Vassar Brewers due to Wednesday's lightning storm in the top of the 11th inning at Prentiss Field.  The tie moves Old Westbury to 12-12-1 on the season and Vassar to 8-9-1.

Paul Valerio led off the game with a single to set the table for Brian Walsh, who doubled him in for an early 1-0 lead.  Vassar matched the score in the home half of the second with Jason Garfinkel reaching on a fielder's choice to allow Nick Johnson to score.

Old Westbury answered in the fifth with a Jeremy Delgado two-out double to score Valerio, making it a 2-1 game.

In the eighth, first baseman John Angelino's throwing error sent Dave Robbins home for the game tying run.
Old Westbury threatened in the ninth with runners on the corners, but Eddie Hernandez was thrown out trying to steal second to end the inning.

Old Westbury had a chance to win it in the tenth, but Angelino popped out to end the inning, stranding Walsh at third and Delgado at first.  Walsh doubled and advanced to third on a wild pitch before Delgado drew a walk.

The game was called in the 11th before Peter Romeo popped up to the catcher and Jacob Coners grounded out to the pitcher.

Old Westbury starter Tyler Kapela allowed one run on three hits and two walks in five innings of work.  Reliever Stephen Chapter recorded three outs and surrendered the game tying run before Alex DiSanto tossed three scoreless innings of relief.  Old Westbury's pitching tied a season-high with seven walks.  Vassar's Lawrence Flicker went seven strong innings, giving up two runs on eight hits and two walks.

Valerio (3-5, 2-R, 2-SB) and Walsh (3-4, RBI, 2-2B) paced Old Westbury with three hits each while Delgado (2-3, RBI, 2B, SB, 2-BB), Coners (2-5) and Brandon Stein (2-3) added two.   Sean Morash led Vassar with a 2-for-3 game at the plate with an RBI.
