OLD WESTBURY, NY
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury baseball team defeated the visiting Manhattanville Valiants 3-2 in non-conference action Tuesday evening from the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.  With the win, Old Westbury improves to 8-11 on the season while sending Manhattaville to 5-15.

Three straight singles opened the scoring in the third inning for Manhattville, with Nick Euvino driving in Raul Rodriguez to break the scoring ice.  Johnny LoVetere then grounded out to second baseman Steve Mare to push across Jordanis Nunez for the Valiants' second and final run of the game.

Old Westbury answered in the home half of the third to slice the deficit in half.  With one out, Paul Valerio laced his second double of the game into left field and Jacob Coners knocked him in on an infield ground out.

Old Westbury went up for good in the sixth inning, grabbing a 3-2 lead.  John Angelino lifted a sacrifice fly out to center field to score Coners for the game tying run and Brian Walsh crossed the plate on a fielding error by shortstop Jordanis Nunez for the winning run.

Old Westbury starter Frank DiMaria (2-1) fanned six in seven innings of mound work to earn the win.   Stephen Chapter struck out two in the eighth and Alex Disanto closed out the ninth for his fourth save of the season.  Old Westbury pitchers have now gone 28.2 innings without handing out a free pass.  Manhattanville reliever Zack Zareva (0-1) took the loss after surrendering two runs (one earned) on two walks over 2.1 innings.

Paul Valerio paced Old Westbury by hitting 2-for-4 at the plate to register his fifth multi-hit game of the season.  Jacob Coners (0-2, RBI, R) swept two of Old Westbury's seven bases on the day.  Jordanis Nunez (2-4, R), Nick Euvino (2-3, RBI) and Raul Rodriguez (2-4, R) all produced multi-hit games as Manhattanville outhit Old Westbury 7-3.
