www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's lacrosse team travelled to Weinberg Field on Tuesday evening to take on the Vassar Brewers in non-conference action. Eight different players scored for the Brewers, as they blanketed the visiting Panthers, 11-0. Old Westbury drops to 2-11 on the year, while Vassar improves to 7-2.
Nicole Magney, Stephanie Stone, and Zoe Ripecky led the Brewers with two goals apiece and
JoAnna Kettell recorded half of her team's eight shots for Old Westbury.
The game was decided in the first 3:07 of play, as the duo of Magney and Stone accounted for the first four Brewers' strikes. Magney got the scoring started 45 seconds into the game, when she netted her fourth goal of the season. Stone extended the Vassar lead to 2-0, by tallying her second goal of the year 1:16 later. Stone won the ensuring draw control and passed the ball to Magney, who fired the ball into the back of the cage for the third goal of the game. Stone put the Brewers' up 4-0, by scoring her third goal of the season at the 26:53 mark of the opening half.
Vassar took a 9-0 lead entering intermission and scored only two goals in the second half for the victory.
The Brewers out-shot Old Westbury, 18-8, and out-muscled the Panthers, 10-3, in draw controls.
ST. JOSEPH'S-L.I. GOLDEN EAGLES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to familiar grounds, the St. Joseph's College-L.I. Outdoor Athletic Complex, on Sunday, April 14 to battle the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College-L.I. in Skyline Conference action. The opening draw control is set for 12 p.m. The Panthers hosted four of their five home games this season at the St. Joseph's College-L.I. Outdoor Athletic Complex.
