Alyssa Clancy registered her 31st career shutout in game one before notching her 19th win of the season

OLD WESTBURY, NY (
www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury softball team swept the visiting Rutgers-Newark Scarlet Raiders, 1-0 and 6-5, to finish out the regular season Wednesday afternoon from the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex. Old Westbury improves to 19-17 on the season and will now await a decision from the ECAC for the upcoming Metro Region Championship Tournament. Rutgers-Newark closes out their season with a 10-28 record.
Game One: Old Westbury 1, Rutgers-Newark 0
Corrine Protasiewicz broke a scoreless tie in the third inning by singling in
Nicole Petrucci. Petrucci kept the inning alive with a two-out single.
Alex Heaney singled to move Petrucci over to third before Protasiewicz delivered the game-winning hit.
Old Westbury starter
Alyssa Clancy kept Rutgers-Newark in check all game long, not allowing a Scarlet Raider to advance past second base. Rutgers-Newark stranded runners on second in the first, fifth and sixth innings.
Clancy (18-16) finished the game with eight strikeouts and posted her 31st career shutout (eighth of season), scattering four hits. Brianna Aliccio (3-17) took the loss, giving up one run on five hits.
Protasiewicz led Old Westbury with a 2-for-3 game at the plate while Monica Liotto's 2-for-3 game paced Rutgers-Newark.
Game Two: Old Westbury 6, Rutgers-Newark 5
Clancy didn't have her best stuff early on in the finale as Rutgers-Newark jumped ahead with a four run first inning.
Jessica Colucci's run-scoring double drove in Clancy to put Old Westbury on the board in the second.
Tori Santiago singled home Gabby Spinella in the third to put Rutgers-Newark up 5-1.
Down 5-1 in the bottom of the fifth,
Jennifer Jean sparked Old Westbury's comeback with a two-run triple. Protasiewicz then followed with run-scoring single to drive in Jean to slice the deficit to one run, 5-4.
Rutgers-Newark threatened in the sixth with Santiago reaching third with one out. Clancy kept her cool and retired the next two batters to escape out of the jam.
Samantha Howley answered for Old Westbury to tie the game in the sixth with a single that scored
Jessica Spero.
Petrucci reached on a two base fielding error to open the home half of the seventh.
Jennifer Jean then stepped to the plate and looped a walk-off single out to left center to score Petrucci for the game-winner.
Jean (2-3, 3 RBI, R, 3B) and Colucci (2-3, RBI, 2B) paced Old Westbury with multi-hit performances while Petrucci (1-3, BB) scored two runs.
Multi-hit games by Santiago (3-3, 3 RBI), Spinella (2-4, 2 R, RBI), Vanessa Romero (2-4, R) and Monica Liotto (2-4, R) led Rutgers-Newark to an 11-8 hitting advantage.
Clancy (19-16) posted her career-best 19th win of the season, fanning five while surrendering five runs (four earned) on 11 hits in a complete game outing.
Liane Drastal (7-11) was tabbed with the loss, giving up the unearned run in 0.2 innings of work.
