Department recognizes more than 30 student-athletes for academic, athletic success

OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury Department of Athletics hosted its inaugural Senior Athletic Awards Banquet on Thursday evening at the Student Union, with the seven highest department honors awarded during the 2012-13 year-end celebration. 

Lydia Coleman, a member of the Women's Swimming and lacrosse programs, captured Female Student-Athlete while Baseball's Steve Mare earned Male Student-Athlete.  Outstanding Female Athlete went to Softball's Alyssa Clancy and the Outstanding Male Athlete was shared by Basketball's Kerel Mitchell and Baseball's Paul Valerio.  Cristina Kettell earned the Roarin' Panther award and Women's Basketball claimed Coaching Staff of the Year.   The executive board of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee presented Dr. Laura Anker with the SAAC Faculty Appreciation Award to round out the group. 

Lenore Walsh, Director of Athletics, presented the senior pad folios to all 33 seniors and a video compilation highlighting the success of each varsity team during the 2012-13 season as shown during the celebration.
