Old Westbury and Farmingdale State meet Sunday for the fourth straight year in the championship round

Box Score
FARMINGDALE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) -  The SUNY College at Old Westbury baseball team advances to face the top seeded Farmingdale State Rams in the Skyline Conference Championship round for the fourth straight year after eliminating the Maritime Privateers (15-23) with a 21-2 victory Saturday evening from Rams Field.  Old Westbury (25-14-1) and Farmingdale State (27-11) are set to clash at 11 a.m.

Old Westbury grabbed a quick lead in the first inning when Brian Walsh tripled home Paul Valerio to break the scoring ice.  Old Westbury doubled their advantage on a balk by Maritime starter Paul Pfundstein that scored Walsh.  Peter Romeo then drove in John Angelino to score Old Westbury's third run on a sacrifice fly and a throwing error by shortstop Thomas Bauer allowed Kevin Licul to cross for the fourth run of the game.

Valerio tripled to open the second to put an end to Pfundstein's day.  Reliever David Ramos dealt out a sacrifice fly to Eddie Hernandez that scored Valerio for a 5-0 lead.  Old Westbury enjoyed a 10 run third inning and tacked on one more in the fourth and sixth innings and four more in the seventh to close out the scoring.

Maritime broke into the score column in the fourth with a Patrick Kirk single that drove in Albert Doerbecker off reliever James Scagnelli.

Phundstein (2-2) took Maritime's loss while Old Westbury reliever James Wipperman (1-0) fanned two batters in two innings to earn the win.

Peter Romeo (4-5, 4 RBI, 4 R) and Jacob Coners (4-7, 2 R, RBI) paced Old Westbury with four hit performances.
