@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer nets 3-1 win over Brooklyn

The Panthers get goals from Jordan Schildt, Edania Martinez and Stephanie Maybie

BROOKLYN, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team captured a 3-1 non-conference road victory Thursday evening against the Brooklyn Bulldogs from Brooklyn College Field.  Jordan Schildt, Edania Martinez and Stephanie Maybie all found the back of the net to spur the Panthers' record to 6-6-1 on the season while sending Brooklyn to 4-7-0.

Old Westbury wasted little time opening the scoring books as Stephanie Maybie's through ball found Jordan Schildt at 11:52 to put the Panthers up 1-0.  Sara Bey then sent a cross to Edania Martinez which scored her third-career game-winning goal to double Old Westbury's advantage with a 2-0 lead heading into the half.

Brooklyn scored first in the second half with a Jordan Kerwin goal off a Serene Drakes pass to slice the deficit in half, making it a 2-1 game at 66:52.  Old Westbury tacked on its third goal when Martinez found Maybie for her 19th goal of the season at 70:37 to close out the scoring books with a 3-1 final.  Maybie's 19th goal tied her career-high which she set in 2012.

In the end, Old Westbury held the advantage in shots (22-14), shots on goal (14-6) and corner kicks (3-2).

Caitlin Thomas (5-6-1) recorded her 31st career win by making four saves during her 76:18 in net for Old Westbury.  Melissa Muller kept Brooklyn off the scoreboard in the final 13:42 in relief of Thomas.  Rebecca Harmata (4-5-0) made 11 saves in defeat for Brooklyn.
