@OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer wraps up non-conference schedule at Rowan on Monday evening

Old Westbury returns to Skyline Conference play at home Wednesday (Oct. 22) afternoon against Mount Saint Vincent

GLASSBORO, NJ (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team dropped its final non-conference match of the regular season on the road Monday evening to the Rowan Profs, 4-0 , from Rowan Soccer Complex in Glassboro, New Jersey.  Old Westbury moved to 7-8-0 on the season while Rowan improved to 9-8-0.

After neither squad was able to find the back of the 30-plus minutes into first-half play, Rowan erupted for three goals to take a 3-0 lead at the half.  Dave Schwartz broke the scoring ice at 32:12 when Christian Fountain found him on the right side to give Rowan a 1-0 lead.  Dante Nocito then found a streaking Brendan Macfarlane on the left side to double Rowan's advantage at 40:49.  Macfarlane beat Panther goalie Peter Sicardi at 42:19 for his second goal of the game to send Rowan into the half with a 3-0 lead.

Rowan closed out the scoring books at 76:09 as Schwartz's throw in was slotted from Silas Wood to Shane Guyer to make it a four-goal game.

Sicardi (4-4-0) recorded double-digit saves for the third time this season, making 12 stops in a complete game effort for Old Westbury.  Kevin Vasta and Graeham Gotrell split Rowan's shutout, with Vasta (7-8-0) claiming the victory.

In the end, Rowan held the advantage in shots (43-1), shots on goal (16-0) and corner kicks (12-0).  John Ramos fired Old Westbury's lone shot of the game in the fifth minute of play.
