Gameday Program

OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) -The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team lost to the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins, 3-2-, in a rainy Skyline Conference showdown on Wednesday afternoon from President's Stadium on the campus of NYIT.  With the loss, Old Westbury (7-9-0) moves to 2-5-0 in conference play while Mount Saint Vincent (8-8-0) improved to 5-3-0.

Old Westbury jumped ahead early when Angel Velez sent a corner kick to Adan Cruz-Velasquez, who followed through with strike past a diving David Melchor for a 1-0 lead at 12:03.  Moments later, Velez hooked up with Cruz-Velasquez to double Old Westbury's advantage, making it a 2-0 game at 19:08.  Cruz-Velasquez scored his fifth goal of the season by using his head to finish off Velez's corner kick.

Mount Saint Vincent responded at 20:48 when Andrew Gomez found Dennis Reyes to make it a one-score game.  At 36:46, Jaime Salazar slotted a pass to Kevin Jardines, who buried his 19th goal of season past Panther goalie Kelvin Rivera for the equalizer.  At the half, both team fired seven shots, while Old Westbury held the advantage in shots on goal (6-3) and corner kicks (7-3).

After combining to score four goals in the opening 37 minutes, it wasn't until 57:25 that the next shot was taken, as Marcial Aguilar's attempt was stopped by Rivera.  As an evenly played second half was drawing to its end, Reyes answered at 87:27 to deliver the game-winning goal by beating Rivera outside the box for his 20th goal of the season.

Rivera (3-5-0) made two saves in defeat for Old Westbury while David Melchor (7-7-0) stopped six shots to earn Mount Saint Vincent's win.

In the end, Old Westbury held the advantage in shots (13-10), shots on goal (9-5) and corner kicks (11-7).
