Akinfeleye Scores First-Career Goal for @OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer Against Mount Saint Vincent

Tosin Akinfeleye took her first-career shot to net goal in Skyline Conference battle

OLD WESTBURY, NY 
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team allowed three goals in the second half to fall 4-1 at home to the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins on Tuesday afternoon in Skyline Conference action from Panther Park.  The loss moved Old Westbury (5-6-1) to 0-4-0 in conference play while Mount Saint Vincent (8-2-0) improved to 1-1-0.

Mount Saint Vincent broke a scoreless tie at 40:01 to take a 1-0 lead into the half off Julia McGowan's feed to Joyce Pagliuca. 

McGowan then assisted on Megan DeRosa's goal at 47:02 to double Mount Saint Vincent's advantage with a 2-0 lead early in the second half.  Tosin Akinfeleye put the Panthers on the board at 54:14 with her first-career goal to slice Old Westbury's deficit in half.  Akinfeleye's goal was also scored off her first-career shot, which was also Floriselda Zuniga's first-career assist.  Mount Saint Vincent responded 30 minutes later with Megan DeRosa's 10th goal of the season for a 3-1 lead.  Pagliuca would then add her second-goal of the game at 89:04 off a feed from Caroline Criscuola to close out the scoring books.
In the end, Mount Saint Vincent held the advantage in shots (16-6), shots on goal (8-4) and corner kicks (2-0).

Caitlin Thomas (4-6-1) made four saves in net for Old Westbury while Elizabeth Martin (6-2-0) stopped three shots to collect Mount Saint Vincent's victory.       


BROOKLYN BULLDOGS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch for a non-conference road battle against the Brooklyn Bulldogs on Thursday (Oct. 16) at 5 p.m. from Brooklyn College Field in Brooklyn, New York.
