Gameday Program

OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team enjoyed a convincing 2-1 Skyline Conference victory over the visiting St. Joseph's (L.I.) Golden Eagles on Thursday afternoon from Panther Park.  With the win, Old Westbury (7-5-0) evened up its conference record at 2-2-0 while sending the Golden Eagles (4-11-0) to 2-3-0.

Jesse Eyoma broke the scoring ice for Old Westbury with his third-goal of the season at 1:15.  Eyoma banged home a rebound off Adan Cruz-Velasquez's shot past Golden Eagle goalie Avery Gomez for Old Westbury's 1-0 lead.  Old Westbury appeared to have a one-goal advantage heading into the half until Enrique Tirado's free kick deflected off Cody Kull's head to knot the game at 1-1 at the conclusion of 45 minutes.  Old Westbury fired 10 first-half shots compared to three for the Golden Eagles.

The match was decided at 60:57 when Angel Velez received Cody Greene's pass in the box to net the game-winner for his second goal of the season.

Kelvin Rivera improved to 3-2-0 on the season after turning away three shots to earn Old Westbury's victory.  Avery Gomez (4-8-0) made nine saves in defeat for St. Joseph's (L.I.)

In the end, Old Westbury held the advantage in shots (18-11) and shots on goal (11-4) while St. Joseph's (L.I.) came away with an 8-4 margin in corner kicks.
