(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's lacrosse made their final game of the 2014 season count, but the Panthers were unable to hold off the Maritime Privateers as the Panthers fell by a score of 10-8 from Reinhart Field on Wednesday evening.  The Panthers conclude their sophomore campaign with an overall record of 3-13 and 1-6 in Skyline Conference play while Maritime advances to a mark of 4-8 and 2-5, respectively. 

Prior to opening draw, seniors Jackie Cartagena (2013-14), Jessica Walker (2013-14) and Zuri Reaves-Bey (2014) were honored with the annual senior day ceremony for their dedication to Old Westbury Athletics. 

Sara Bey netted five goals to go along with four ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers to lead the Panthers.  Bey scored a hat trick in the second half, which gave the Panthers a brief 8-7 lead with 24:48 remaining.  Maritime answered with three of Jane Quinn's five goals on the day to lead the Privateers to the victory.  Bey's hat trick was her program leading sixth on the season and concludes her freshman year with program-records of 37 goals, 38 points and 51 draw controls. 

Courtney Gallagher followed with a pair of first half goals to extend her scoring streak to a program record 13 games.  Gallagher closed out the first half scoring by netting her career-best 27th goal with 5:58 remaining to send Old Westbury into the half down 6-5.   

Meaghan Haber's 16th goal of the season at 22:58 in the opening half made it a 1-1 game.  Haber added a team-best five draw controls and averaged six over the last three games.  Haber, Jordan Schildt and Caitlin Thomas each caused three turnovers while Schildt added two draw controls.  

In cage for Old Westbury, Jackie Cartagena collected nine saves, facing a total of 29 shots and 19 on target.  Meghin Paczkowski for the Privateers made a total of 12 saves while between the pipes.

Quinn also collected five ground balls, five caused turnovers and five draw controls while Caroline Reynolds chipped in with six ground balls and Charlotte Acklin added four draw controls for Maritime. 

Old Westbury held a 21-20 edge in ground balls while Maritime outshot the Panthers, 29-25.
