OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - TThe SUNY College at Old Westbury softball team posted a pair of victories Thursday afternoon claiming a 5-0 and 8-0 decisions over the visiting Lehman Lightning from Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.  Old Westbury improves to 5-4 on the season while Lehman slipped to 3-9.

Old Westbury jumped ahead early with a leadoff bunt single by Gabriella Valdes and then scored two batters later when Jennifer Jean clubbed her first home run of the season for a 2-0 lead.  Old Westbury took a 3-0 lead in the third inning after Delana Murray reached on a bunt single, stole second and advanced home on a throwing error by right fielder Chariny Graciano.  Old Westbury scored two more unearned runs in the fifth to earn a 5-0 final. 

Emily McKay (1-0) earned the two-hit shutout, striking out a career-high 10 batters while walking three. 

Jean's 2-for-3 game at the plate led the Panthers with her fifth multi-hit game of the season, including her 13th career home run.  Valdes (1-3) contributed a pair of runs scored. 
Arlette Martinez (1-2) and Sheila San Andres (1-2) each singled for Lehman's lone hits. 

San Andres (0-5) was tagged with the loss, surrendering five runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk.    

In the finale, Old Westbury stroked a pair of singles before Valdes scored Alyssa Czarnecki to break the scoring ice in the third inning for a 1-0 lead.  Katie Rizzo made it a three run game in the fourth with a two-run double before scoring off Murray's fielder's choice for a 4-0 lead. Old Westbury then doubled its advantage with three hits and two errors in the fifth to secure the run rule victory. 

Nicole DeCola (4-3) scattered two hits and registered two strikeouts to earn her first career shutout. 

Corrine Protasiewicz carried the big bat for Old Westbury, collecting her fifth multi-hit game of the season with a 2-for-3 (RBI double, 2 R) performance.  Rizzo (1-3) finished with two RBI and two runs scored while Czarnecki (2-3, R) chipped in with her first career multi-hit game.  Alexis Ferrero (1-3) added two runs and extended her hitting streak to seven games with a single in the fourth inning.    

Meghan Bravo (3-4) took Lehman's loss and was charged with eight runs (six earned) on 10 hits while striking out four.  Bravo (1-2) and Paola Batista (1-2) also collected both of Lehman's hits.  

  
FARMINGDALE STATE RAMS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the field on Saturday (April 5) for a Skyline Conference doubleheader with the Farmingdale State Rams at 12 p.m. from Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex in Old Westbury, New York.
