Dischley, Gallagher Extend Scoring Streak in @OW_Panthers Women’s Lacrosse’s Battle at Purchase

PURCHASE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's lacrosse team lost 7-4 to the Purchase Panthers in Skyline Conference road action Saturday afternoon in Purchase, New York.  With the loss, Old Westbury (2-9) moves to 1-3 in conference play while the Panthers (5-2) now stand at 2-2.

Purchase broke the scoring ice with a goal from Annette Elson with 22:56 to go in the first half. Maria Dischley responded for Old Westbury, taking advantage of a free position attempt to find the net, scoring her 13th goal of the season to lock the game at 1-1 at the end of 30 minutes. 

The second half began with two early goals from Elson to stretch Purchase's lead to 3-1. Gabriella DiPierno answered for Old Westbury with a goal assisted by Courtney Gallagher. Purchase scored just two minutes later with a goal from Samantha Rich to spark a 3-0 run.

Old Westbury collected two additional goals late from Gallagher and Jordan Shildt, however, the Purchase offense was too much to handle as they netted a final tally with 56 seconds remaining to close out the scoring books for a 7-4 decision. 

Gallagher shined for Old Westbury with two draw controls, five ground balls while adding a goal and an assist. Maria Dischley collected six ground balls and two draw controls while also netting a goal of her own.
Both Dischley and Gallagher are now tied for a program record with goals in eight consecutive games.

Jackie Cartagena (2-9) saved eight shots on the day while Jess Lindsay (5-2) rejected 14 Old Westbury shots in the win for Purchase.

Elson led Purchase with her four goals and two ground balls. Mikaela Connoers also scooped four ground balls on day. 

USMMA MARINERS UP NEXT FOR OLD WESTBURY: Old Westbury returns to the field for a non-conference road battle on Tuesday (Apr. 8) against the USMMA Mariners.  Start time is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Kings Point, New York.
