OLD WESTBURY, NY
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury softball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader with 11-7 and 10-6 finals to the visiting Brooklyn Bulldogs on Monday afternoon from Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.  With the setbacks, Old Westbury moves to 6-9 on the season while Brooklyn improved to 11-9.

Brooklyn jumped on top early when a fielding error by right fielder Delana Murray allowed Samantha Rodriguez to reach base to extend the inning.  Amanda Bisz then capitalized with a single that scored Rodriguez from first for an unearned run.

Old Westbury answered in the home half of the first with a two-run home run by Alexis Ferrero that scored Jennifer Jean for a 2-1 lead.

Brooklyn responded with Arislenia Rodriguez's run scoring double to even the game at 2-2.

Brooklyn tacked on six more runs in the third with a Bisz RBI double followed by consecutive RBI singles by Stephan Caravello and Allison Donovan. Arislenia Rodriguez then delivered three-run homer over the center field fence to make it an 8-2 game.

Bisz reached base with two outs in the fourth inning off a pair of fielding errors to land at second base to keep the inning alive.  Nathalie DeJesus replaced Bisz as a pinch runner, who then scored off Caravello's single, which followed with a Donovan RBI single to close out the inning with an eight run advantage.

Old Westbury made it a six score game with two runs in the bottom of the fifth as Murray drove in Katie Rizzo off a sacrifice hit, followed by a bunt single by Gabriella Valdes to score Samantha Howley.
Geena Bell tacked on Brooklyn's final run with an RBI single for an 11-4 Bulldog advantage in the seventh.

Old Westbury answered in the seventh with a two-run single by Jennifer Jean followed by Valdes closing out the scoring books by scoring off Nicole DeCola's fielder's choice.

DeCola (5-6) was dealt Old Westbury's loss after serving up 11 runs (seven earned) on 11 hits and one walk to log her 10th complete game effort of the season.

Jean (3-4, 2 RBI, R) collected her team-leading seventh multi-hit game of the season, going 3-for-4 at the plate. Ferrero added her first career home run, finishing 2-for-4 to record her first career multi-hit game.  Howley added two runs scored for her fifth game with two or more runs on the season.

Bisz (2-1) tossed six innings to earn the victory, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out six.

Meagan Cranston (2-5, R), Bisz (2-4, 2 RBI, R), Caravello (2-3, 2 RBI, R) and Ariselenia Rodriguez (2-4, 4 RBI, R) led Brooklyn with multi-hit games.

In the finale, Corrine Protasiewicz smashed a run-scoring double to score Jean for the games initial run for a 1-0 Panther lead.

Brooklyn answered in the second with two runs as Panther starter Emily McKay dealt out a pair of bases loaded walks to fall behind 2-1 in the score column.  Brooklyn added two more runs in the third as Nicole Tufano stroked a two-run single to put Brooklyn up 4-1.

Protasiewicz again answered with an RBI double to score Valdes to slice the deficit in half at the end of three frames.

Brooklyn took control of the game in the fourth with six runs on five hits for a 10-2 lead.  Old Westbury however did not go down without a fight, scoring four runs in the bottom of the fourth, which saw Jean drive in two off a triple followed by Protasiewicz's two-run double to close out the scoring books.

The game was called at the end of five innings due to heavy rain.

McKay (1-2) was saddled with Old Westbury's loss, surrendering 10 runs (nine earned) on 12 hits and five walks while striking out two.

Brooklyn reliever Marie Oneto (5-3) tossed 1.1 scoreless innings and allowed just one hit to earn the win.

Protasiewicz (3-3) produced four RBIs on three doubles to lead the Panthers at the plate.  Jean (2-3, 2 RBI, 2 R, 3B) and Valdes (2-3, 2 R) each tallied two hits on the game.  Valdes registered her first career multi-hit game.

Cranston (2-4, R), Caravello (2-4, 2 R), Donovan (2-3, 3 R, RBI) and Arislenia Rodriguez (2-3, 2 RBI, 2 R) each totaled two hits.
