OLD WESTBURY, NY
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The top-seeded SUNY College at Old Westbury baseball team secured a spot in Sunday's Skyline Conference Championship game for the fifth straight season with a 4-3 win over the No. 2 Purchase Panthers Saturday evening from Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.  Old Westbury and six-time conference champion No. 3 Farmingdale State will battle for the fifth consecutive championship Sunday at 11 a.m. in Old Westbury, New York.

John Angelino broke the scoring in the top of the first inning with a two-run single to give Old Westbury an early lead.

Old Westbury threatened in the second when Purchase starter Christian Knochen intentionally walked Jonathan Pagan to the load the bases.  Knochen then induced a Kevin Licul fly out to escape out of the jam.

Old Westbury took a three-run lead in the third inning when Angelino singled and three batters later scored off Michael Cardino's sacrifice fly.

In the seventh, Angelino lifted a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Pagan to make it a four-run lead.

Purchase broke into the scoring column in the eighth inning when Elan Trischitta ripped an RBI single to put a close to Old Westbury starter Frank DiMaria's day.  Alex DiSanto then took over and surrendered back-to-back-hits which included John Jonas' RBI double followed by a Jay Ruiz run scoring single to make it a one-run game.

DiSanto bounced back in the ninth with three strikeouts to secure his fourth save of the season.

DiMaria (2-3) pitched the Panthers into the championship with a solid 7.1 innings of work.  DiMaria fanned two batters and allowed two runs on five hits and two walks.

Angelino had his hand in all four of Old Westbury's runs, finishing the day 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and one run scored.  Byron White (2-4) collected a pair of hits to register his eighth multi-hit game of the season.

Skoller paced Purchase with a 2-for-4 game at the plate and starter Knochen (1-2) was pinned with the loss after lasting just two innings on the mound.
