OLD WESTBURY, NY
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The top-seeded SUNY College at Old Westbury baseball team dropped a 10-9 decision to the No. 3 Farmingdale State Rams Saturday morning in the semifinal round of the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament from Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.  Old Westbury will now take the field later today at 5 p.m. against the winner of No. 2 Purchase/No. 4 St. Joseph's (L.I.), with the winner advancing to championship Sunday

Old Westbury jumped on Farmingdale State starter Kevin Cashman early with four straight singles to end his day in the first without recording an out.  Old Westbury's third hit resulted in Jacob Coners scoring off Jonathan Pagan's RBI single.  Farmingdale State reliever Daniel Tierney then took over and induced a pop out and a double play to escape out of the jam.

The Rams answered right back in the bottom of the first with a pair of RBI singles to take a 2-1 lead.

In the second, Coners tied the game with a two-out single to score Tommy Ziegen from second base.

Joey Walsh's RBI single off reliever James Powers in the third inning put the Panthers ahead, 3-2.

Old Westbury added two more runs in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead, scoring off third baseman Mike Scarlato's fielding error and Brandon Stein's RBI single.

Farmingdale State responded with seven hits to produce a five-run fourth inning to take a 7-5 advantage.

Mike Marino's RBI triple in the sixth sparked a three-run Farmingdale State frame to double the Rams' advantage for a 10-5 lead.

Back-to-back RBI singles by Nick Yip and Pagan made it a three-run game before John Angelino's two-run single trimmed the deficit to one as the Panthers battled back in the seventh but were unable to overcome the deficit.

Panther starter Tim Ingram (6-3) was charged with seven runs on 11 hits and two walks while striking out six in 4.1 innings of work.  James Scagnelli and Alex DiSanto combined to toss 2.2 inning of scoreless relief.

Coners  (4-5, RBI, 2 R, 2 SB) and Pagan (4-6, 2 RBI, R) each produced four hits while Yip (3-5, 2 R, RBI) and Byron White (3-6) added three for the Panthers.

Timmy Trimarchi (2-0) was one of seven Ram relievers used in the game and earned the victory with three innings of relief and Alex Pangourelias tossed 1.1 innings to register his second save of the season.

Robert Sullivan led the Rams with a 3-for-3 day at the plate including a pair of RBIs and one run scored.
