Box Score

BROOKLYN, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - Jesse Eyoma and Adan Cruz-Velasquez both scored goals but the SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season by a 4-2 score to the York Cardinals on Friday afternoon in non-conference road action from Aviator Field.  The Panthers now stand at 4-1-0 on the season heading into Sunday's conference opener at Yeshiva.  York improved to 1-3-0 with the win.

The Cardinals scored four goals in the first half to jump out to a 4-1 lead at the break.  After Rachidi Amadou broke the scoring ice at 7:25, Eyoma answered for the Panthers at 8:32 with the equalizer.  Eyoma deflected Anthony Echevarria's free kick into the back of the net for his second goal of the season, while the helper was Echevarria's team-leading fourth of the season.

York replied with goals by Andrew Adelson in the 13th and 16th minutes, followed by Albert Lucas' tally in the 20th minute to close out the first-half scoring.
Both teams played even over the next 55:57 until Adan Cruz-Velasquez scored the lone second-half goal in the 76th minute to cut Old Westbury's deficit in half, making it a 4-2 final.

Peter Sicardi (4-1) allowed all four goals during his 22:49 of action in between Old Westbury's pipes.  Kelvin Rivera played a scoreless 67:11 in net for the Panthers, making six saves to close out the game.  Mohamed Elbarbary made seven saves to earn York's win.

York edged Old Westbury in shots (15-14) and shots on goal (10-9) while drawing even in corner kicks (6-6).

YESHIVA MACCABEES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Sunday (Sept. 14) against the Yeshiva Maccabees in the Panthers' Skyline Conference opener.  Kick off is set for 5:15 p.m. from University Stadium in Teaneck, New Jersey.
