Gameday Program

OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's basketball team shot 30.3 percent from the field in a 74-58 home loss to the Lehman Lightning on Tuesday evening in non-conference action from Clark Athletic Center.  With the loss, Old Westbury now stands at 6-6 on the season while the Lightning improved to 10-3.

Amely Del Rosario sank a pair of free throws to open the scoring for Lehman just 17 seconds into play for an early lead.  Old Westbury answered with a jumper by Crystal Barnes followed by Olivia Ilardi's triple to go up 5-2 with 19:01 remaining.  Moments later, Ilardi knocked down another three pointer to spark a 5-0 run for a 10-6 lead with 14:57 left.  Lehman responded with 10 straight points from 13:44 to 9:42 to grab a 19-12 advantage.  Lehman extended its lead to 10 points in the final 5:43 before Jennifer Navarro's layup with 14 seconds left closed out the scoring for a 12-point Lightning lead at the break.

Lehman maintained a double-digit lead for most of the second half to secure its road win.  Old Westbury trimmed the deficit to six points with a 6-0 run from 18:56 to 16:40 to make it a 40-34 game early in the half.  Lehman then used a 10-2 spurt from 14:50 to 12:01 to extend its lead to 14 points (52-38).  Old Westbury closed the gap to eight points (57-49) with 7:58 showing on the second-half clock before Lehman countered with a 7-0 run from 6:47 to 5:27 to grab a 64-49 advantage.  Chloe Mellon scored Old Westbury's final points with 2:35 remaining as Lehman closed out the final 1:20 with a 7-0 run to win by 16 points.

Barnes registered her sixth double-double of season, racking up 15 points (7-15 FG) and a career-best 15 rebounds to go along with three blocked shots.  Ilardi followed with 12 points (3-7 3FG) and 10 rebounds (career-high).  Kendra Jordan posted career-highs of eight points, eight rebounds and four assists while Raven Pentz chipped in with five assists and four steals.

Del Rosario's game-high 22 points (7-13 FG, 7-8 FT) led three other Lehman scorers in double-digits.  Del Rosario added nine assists, six steals, six rebounds and three blocked shots while Yarmese Jones went for 13 points, 11 rebounds and five steals.

In the end, Old Westbury connected on 30.3 percent from the field (23-76), 18.5 percent from three-point territory (5-27) and 50 percent from the free-throw line (7-14) while Lehman shot 36.2 percent from the floor (25-69), 18.2 percent from beyond the arc (4-22) and 87 percent from the charity stripe (20-23).  Old Westbury won the boards battle, 56-48, scoring 14 second-chance points off 23 offensive rebounds.  Old Westbury also held the edge in assists (15-14) while Lehman controlled the margin in steals (16-7), blocked shots (5-3), points in the paint (40-22) and fastbreak scoring (27-12).  Lehman scored 30 points off 25 Panther turnovers while Old Westbury converted 18 Lightning miscues into 15 points.
