Sicardi shines for @OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer in double overtime tie at Farmingdale State

Peter Sicardi recorded his third-straight shutout to lead Old Westbury in Wednesday’s Skyline Conference battle

FARMINGDALE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) After 110 minutes of hard play, SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer drew a 0-0 tie with the Farmingdale State Rams Wednesday evening in Skyline Conference road action from Rams Field.  With the draw, Old Westbury (4-7-1) now stands at 4-1-1 in conference play as Farmingdale State (6-6-1) moved to 3-2-1.

Each team had opportunities to score on several occasions, however the defense for both teams proved to be too strong.  Farmingdale State put the pressure on the Panthers offensively in the first half taking 11 shots to their four, and again in the second half to hold a 15-3 edge in shots.   

Farmingdale State finished with 33 shots, and forced Old Westbury's Peter Sicardi (4-7-1) to make 10 saves.  Compiling his third-straight shutout, Sicardi has now logged 341 consecutive minutes of scoreless play in Old Westbury's goal.    

Tana Weekes put up four of Old Westbury's 11 shots on the night.  

Farmingdale State goalie Jeff Valencia (0-1-1) made three stops in the game.  The Rams held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.    

MOUNT SAINT MARY KNIGHTS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns home for a Senior Day Skyline Conference showdown with the Mount Saint Mary Knights on Saturday (Oct. 17) at 1 p.m. from Panther Park.
