Gameday Program

OLD WESTBURY, NY ---
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) The SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer team were 1:30 away from defeating the Mount Saint Mary Knights, but the Knights struck late and forced a 1-1 double-overtime Skyline Conference tie on Senior Day Saturday from Panther Park.  Old Westbury is now 4-7-2 on the season and 4-1-2 in the Skyline Conference while Mount Saint Mary moves to 5-9-2 overall and 4-2-1 in league play.

Prior to the start the game, seniors Robert Amabile (2015), Richard Cunzo (2014-15), Craig Mannhart (2012-13, 2015), Brian Schanel (2012-15) and Peter Sicardi (2012-15) were honored with Old Westbury's annual Senior Day Ceremony for their dedication to SUNY Old Westbury Athletics.

Neither team scored in the first half, with the Knights holding a 9-0 edge in shots.

In the 87th minute, the game changed when Adilson Reyes converted on a penalty kick past Mount Saint Mary's goalkeeper Austin Peluso for the go-ahead goal.  Allowing the goal, Mount Saint Mary turned up its intensity and tied the game in the 89th minute.  Michael Ennis was parked inside the box awaiting a cross from Michael Blaauboer that completed the scoring to send the game into overtime.  Ennis' goal would end Old Westbury goalkeeper Sicardi's scoreless streak at 430 minutes.

In overtime, the Panthers fired four shots to Mount Saint Mary's one.

Sicardi (4-7-2) finished with two saves as Peluso (3-8-2) recorded four.

Mount Saint Mary finished the game with a 16-11 advantage in shots and controlled the corners, 11-2.

MARITIME PRIVATEERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury remains at Panther Park for its regular-season home finale on Wednesday (Oct. 21) when the Maritime Privateers arrive on campus for a 3:30 p.m. Skyline Conference showdown.
