Brown’s triple-double sparks @OW_Panthers Women’s Volleyball to 3-1 win at Sarah Lawrence

Rayn Brown produced a career-high 16 aces to send Old Westbury to its fifth win of the season

BRONXVILLE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball traveled Saturday afternoon to Bronxville, New York for a Skyline Conference tri-match against the Sarah Lawrence Gryphons and St. Joseph's (L.I.) Golden Eagles.  Old Westbury defeated the hosts in four sets (25-21, 25-8, 18-25, 25-15) before falling in three sets to the Golden Eagles (25-9, 25-8, 25-4) inside Campbell Sports Center.   

Trailing 13-12 midway through the opening set, Olivia O'Keefe racked up one of her four kills on the game to spark a 5-0 run to put the Panthers up for good. 

Clinging to a 9-7 lead in the second set, Rayn Brown served up 10 aces to ignite a 16-1 run to put away the Gryphons.

Seven Green put Sarah Lawrence (2-18, 1-4 Skyline) out in front with five-straight aces to build a 13-3 lead, sending the Gryphons to the third-set victory. 

Brianne Dorney served Old Westbury to six-straight points early in the fourth set to take a 9-1 lead and never looked back.
Old Westbury combined to hit a season-best .303 on 46 kills in 99 swings to collect the win against Sarah Lawrence.  The Panthers also set season-highs with 40 assists and 21 aces. 

Brown used 16 aces (career high), 14 kills (season high) and 16 digs to produce her first-career triple double.  Brown added six assists and one blocking assist while Chelsey Hoffman captained the offense with a career-best 28 assists.  Hoffman also registered eight kills (tied career-high). Shanayia Lloyd and Gerlande Lucas each set career highs in kills, nailing down nine and seven, respectively. 

CJ Kelley paced the Gryphons with a triple-double of her own, finishing with 12 kills, 11 assists and 10 digs. 

Sarah Lawrence hit .159 on 27 kills and served 16 aces. 

Old Westbury battled St. Joseph's (L.I.) in the first set by twice making it a one-point match.  The Golden Eagles led from start to finish and proved to be too much for the Panthers.

Brown led the squad in the kills department for the 12th straight game, finishing with three in the match.  Brown also chipped in with five digs.  Hoffman served up the Panthers' lone ace and dished out three assists to move the offense.

Heather Ferchland totaled a match-high 12 kills and Courtney Wickline doled out 21 assists to lead the Golden Eagles (11-12, 4-1 Skyline).  Erin Kelly went for eight aces and Wickline followed with four. 

Old Westbury (5-11, 2-4 Skyline) struggled to hit just -.146 on six kills in 41 attempts.  St. Joseph's (L.I.) hit .424 with 31 kills on 59 swings to go along with 20 aces. 

LEHMAN LIGHTNING UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury remains on the road for Tuesday's (Oct. 20) non-conference showdown with the Lehman Lightning.  First serve is slated for 7 p.m. from Apex Arena in Bronx.
