@OW_Panthers Women’s Volleyball competes hard at Lehman

Old Westbury heads to Mount Saint Mary on Saturday for a crucial Skyline Conference tri-match

BRONX --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball fell in three sets (25-11, 25-10, 25-12) on the road to the Lehman Lightning in non-conference action Tuesday evening from APEX Arena.

Down 10-2 in the opening set, Rayn Brown served up a pair of aces to cap a 5-1 run to slice Old Westbury's (5-12) deficit to four (11-7).  Lehman (11-13) scored 12 of the next 13 points to secure the lead for the first-set win.

Lehman jumped out to a quick 8-0 advantage to open the second set.  Chelsey Hoffman's ace wrapped up three unanswered points for Old Westbury to make it a 10-4 game.  Lehman ran away with the set by scoring nine of the next 11 points.

Old Westbury's slow started doomed them again in the third set as Lehman opened with a 6-0 lead.  Lehman later used a 6-0 run to go up 23-7.

For the 13th consecutive match, Brown led Old Westbury in kills, finishing with two, while hitting .000 on 11 swings.  Brown served up three aces while Hoffman, Sofia Goris and Gerlande Lucas each had one.  Olivia O'Keefe nailed down two kills as Hoffman's four assists moved the offense.   Lucas had six digs and Shanayia Lloyd collected one solo block.

Jo-Marie Aquino's 14 kills and a team-leading .429 hitting percentage paced the Lightning as Lehman hit .284 for the match.  Imani Dubois captained the offense with 16 assists and six of the team's 20 aces.  Lizette Medina scooped up 14 digs.
