NEWBURGH, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball competed Saturday at Mount Saint Mary's Skyline Conference tri-match against the host Knights and the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins from Kaplan Center in Newburgh, New York. Old Westbury lost both matches by a 3-0 scoreline to Mount Saint Mary (25-14, 25-12, 25-21) and Mount Saint Vincent (25-12, 25-13, 25-15).

Sofia Goris served Old Westbury to a quick 2-0 lead to open the first set. Mount Saint Mary (11-17, 4-1 Skyline) would use a 5-0 spurt to create separation for a 15-9 lead, and later went on an 8-0 run to close out the set.

Chelsey Hoffman set Rayn Brown up for a kill to score the second set's first point for a 1-0 Panther lead. Mount Saint Mary scored the next three points to take the lead for good. Clinging to an 8-5 lead, the Knights rattled off nine of the next 11 points to extend their lead to 10 (17-7).

Old Westbury capitalized off the Knights' attacking error to jump out to an early lead for the third-straight set. Alicia Gewirtz served Old Westbury to back-to-back points for a 6-4 advantage. Brianne Dorney helped maintain Old Westbury's two-point lead by setting up Hoffman for the kill at 14-12. From there, Mount Saint Mary used a 5-1 run to go up for good despite a late Panther charge.

Hoffman and Brown each racked up three kills to pace the offense. Hoffman dished out six assists and Goris served two aces. Brown added 13 of the team's 40 digs.

Megan Williams and Kayla Kurka led Mount Saint Mary with seven kills each. Kim Greis' 20 assists moved the Knights on offense as Kaitlin O'Brien and Jen Greis each served up three aces.

In the final match, Mount Saint Vincent (11-13, 6-1 Skyline) led from start to finish as the Dolphins hit .329 compared to Old Westbury's -.055.

Mount Saint Vincent scored the contest's opening four points, and tallied nine-straight to move ahead 22-9.

The Dolphins went up 8-1 in the second set before Old Westbury closed the gap to five with a 4-2 spurt. Mount Saint Vincent grabbed hold of the stanza with a 10-2 run for a 13-point cushion (23-10).

Old Westbury kept it close in the third set as the Dolphins led 11-9. Mount Saint Vincent then closed out the set with a 14-6 run to claim the sweep.

Hoffman and Brown each contributed a team-leading two kills. Brown and Olivia O'Keefe served up two aces apiece while Hoffman added five assists. Dorney and Shanayia Lloyd both scooped up six digs.

Ashleigh Scozzaria and Zana Daluz combined to push the Dolphins with 13 and 11 kills, respectively, while Nicole Henderson dished out a match-high 33 assists. Patsy Sewell had five of Mount Saint Vincent's 14 aces.

CCNY BEAVERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns home for a non-conference showdown Tuesday (Oct. 27) evening to take on the CCNY Beavers at 6 p.m. from Clark Athletic Center.
