@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer claims No. 5 seed in upcoming Skyline Conference Tournament

Fifth-seeded Old Westbury will take on No. 4 St. Joseph’s (L.I.) in Saturday’s first-round matchup in Patchogue, New York

PATCHOGUE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer dropped a 4-1 regular-season finale on the road in Skyline Conference action Tuesday evening to the St. Joseph's (L.I.) Golden Eagles from Danzi Stadium.

The loss moved Old Westbury into the fifth seed in the upcoming Skyline Conference Championship Tournament.  Old Westbury makes it sixth-consecutive tournament appearance, and will remain in Patchogue, New York for Saturday's 12 p.m. battle with the fourth-seeded Golden Eagles.

St. Joseph's (L.I.) quickly secured the lead with a breakaway goal by Chelsea Bellini in the fourth minute.  Heather Nolan then doubled the Golden Eagles' advantage in the 16th minute after finishing a feed from Jaclyn Hughes past Old Westbury goalkeeper Melissa Muller.

Old Westbury sliced its deficit in half 1:27 later with Mayra Bonilla's fourth goal of the season by shooting above a leaping Golden Eagle goalkeeper Katie McGarrell.

Kristin Carroll found Hughes in the box to send the Golden Eagles into the half with a 3-1 advantage off her second goal of the game in the 34th minute.

Carroll would settle the scoring by netting the Golden Eagles' fourth goal in the 56th minute for the 4-1 final.

Muller (6-7-1) finished her night with six saves while McGarrell (7-9-1) stopped two shots in between the pipes for St. Joseph's (L.I.)

In the end, Edania Martinez fired four of Old Westbury's five shots.  St. Joseph's (L.I.) held the lead in shots (27-5), shots on goal (10-3) and corner kicks (3-0).
